Juneja P. Engineering Scholarship

Juneja P. Engineering Scholarship

The Juneja Parshotam, Lal Devi, and Bansi Lal Endowed Engineering Scholarship is being established in celebration of Mr. Parshotom “Paul” Juneja’s 89th birthday. The scholarship is in memory of Mr. Juneja’s parents, Bansi Lal and Lal Devi, and to honor he and his wife, Pratibha “Rani” Juneja. Bansi Lal was a math author and attorney, and he was married to Lal Devi. Together, they had seven sons and one daughter. Parshotam “Paul” was born in India on November 11, 1930. Paul and Rani were married on March 7, 1962. They have two sons, Prateek, who resides in Fayetteville, NC, and Puneet, who resides in Phoenix, AZ.
Paul graduated at the top of his class with honors. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Math and a Degree in Engineering from BIT Sindri. While he was a student there, he was the vice chair of the hockey team. However, this was not always reflective of his sentiments towards education. When Paul was a small child, he was not interested in school. An impactful teacher came alongside him and encouraged Paul. This changed the trajectory of his life.
In 1959, Paul was selected by the Indian Government to be sent to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for training in America. He spent time learning about the steel manufacturing process. This was coordinated by the Indian Government with plans to grow the steel industry in India. Paul returned to India and worked in the Hundustan Steel Industry for fifteen years.
In 1975, Paul and Rani immigrated to America with $7 in their pockets. Paul worked for US Steel in Gary, Indiana for ten years. During this time, he was able to complete a Master in Business Administration and a Certification in Professional Engineering. Paul was hired as a civilian engineer in 1985 by the U.S. Army. Paul’s initial assignment was in Fort Worth, Texas; he later transferred to Pope Air Force Base and to Fort Bragg, NC.
Mr. Juneja retired in 1995. In his free time, Paul enjoys reading, gardening, and playing bridge. He and his wife, Rani, enjoy traveling the world together.
