Pratibha “Rani” Juneja established the Parshotam & Pratibha and Puneet Juneja Nursing Scholarship in memory of her late husband, Parshotam “Paul” Juneja. Paul was born in India on November 11, 1930, and passed away on August 9, 2020.

As a young child, Paul dreamed of going to the USA. He made it a goal of his to one day live in America. His first job was writing letters for people at the post office. Paul loved cars, and bought his first car, an Impala, in 1975. Paul and Rani enjoyed traveling the world together. He purchased a camper and took it to Canada to see the Olympics. Paul was passionate about many things. He was the captain of the hockey team in school. As an adult, he enjoyed playing bridge, buying stock, reading the Fayetteville Observer, photography, gardening, solving puzzles, studying engineering, and solving math problems.

This scholarship is dedicated to those who served Paul in the medical field during his numerous stays in the hospital. He was a patient at Duke, Cape Fear Valley, and High-Smith Rainey over the years. He came in contact with many doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and other individuals in the medical community. Some of his encounters include being a candidate in a Macular Degeneration experiment for three years, being declared dead after his aorta burst, suffering from broken ribs, a broken hip, and overcoming a possible diagnosis of paralysis. The Parshotam & Pratibha and Puneet Juneja Nursing Scholarship is to keep Paul’s legacy alive.
