Mary Frances Jones Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Mary Frances Jones Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established to honor the memory of the beloved Senior Secretary who was so important to the Adult Basic Skills Department of FTCC.

Mary Frances Jones, daughter of the late Lula Mae James, was born in Fayetteville, NC July 9, 1942, and departed this life May 5, 1999. She was an active member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

Mary graduated from Fayetteville State University’s Secretarial Science Program in 1962. Following graduation, she served as a Secretary in the Cumberland County School System. Mary joined FTCC in 1972, and served as a Secretary in the FTCC Continuing Education Division and the Adult Basic Skills Department for more than 26 years. She was a charter member of the FTCC Association of Office Professionals, joining in the fall of 1991. Mary received her Professional Associate Certificate in 1995 and renewal approval in 1999. The Association planted a lovely tree in front of the Continuing Education Center in Mary’s honor May 24, 1999.
